About the Artist
My childhood was spent on the Isle of Man, an island shrouded in Viking and Celtic mythology .
Summer days then seemed never ending , in the fields, or on the beach of the fishing village where we lived (reminiscent of Port Wenn !) and winter storms crashed against the rocks with gulls almost standstill in the winds overhead
Now I live in another beautiful landscape, in tropical Queensland, Australia. Drought and floods contribute to dramatic topography.Colours in nature are exuberant.
My art practice consequently references two island cultures and environments, and combined with extensive travel to South America and South East Asia , has provided a rich bank of experience to draw upon
Drawing has always been of primary importance and is referenced by the mark making and text introduced into much of my mixed media work and painting
I currently live and work in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland where I continue to develop my work through experimentation in, and exploration of, various forms of 2 and 3 dimensional media including drawing, printing, collage and painting . Links I find relevant to my work and glimpses of works in progress can be found on my facebook page Glenis Gray Artworks
